Toothsavers Sealants Program: School-based Sealants

September means back to school!

Summer is winding down as fall activities ramp up. Families are getting into gear for school, and many are eager for a return to regular habits. Make sure caring for your child's oral health is one of those habits!

Sign your primary and middle-school children up for the Toothsavers Sealants program to receive sealant dental care while they are in school. Toothsavers is a mobile team of experienced, caring dental hygienists who provide dental care in school settings during school hours across Spokane County.

Hygienists provide oral assessments and fluoride varnish to help protect teeth against decay. They also apply dental sealants and provide referrals to local dentist offices. Dental sealants are thin coatings that when painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth can prevent cavities (tooth decay) for many years.

  • Sealants prevent cavities by up to 80%, drastically improving the oral health of children — which means less pain, fewer missed school days for kids, and less missed work for parents, not to mention cost savings!

  • Medicaid/Apple Health covers 100% of Toothsavers' services. We also bill private dental insurance and offer reduced fees for uninsured families. We never want to turn children away for financial reasons.

We are committed to your child's safety.

Toothsavers staff abides by CDC infection control guidelines and strive to make their experience fun and pain-free.

Are you already seeing a dentist regularly? Great! We recommend scheduling your regular dental visits and signing up for Toothsavers for additional care when they visit your child's school.
