About YAB

Spokane Youth Action Board (YAB) is a community-based leadership collaborative of youth and young adults (YYA) with lived experience of homelessness.

YHDP Leadership

The Spokane Youth Action Board plays an important leadership role within Spokane’s Coordinated Community Plan for Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). The Youth Action Board reviews and approves all proposals to change Continuum of Care (CoC) policies and procedures related to the CoC services for Youth and Young Adults (YYA) before final approval by the CoC Board. The YAB also generates proposals. In addition, an elected member of the YAB serves on the CoC Funding and RFP Committee.

In this role YAB members must be:

  • Youth and Young Adults (YYA) ages 12 to 24

  • with at least 2/3 having lived experience of homelessness or housing instability

Elected members of the Youth Action Board sit on the CoC Board and Funding and RFP Committee as voting members. All YAB members are invited to participate in the Homeless Youth Subcommittee as well.

Community-based Solutions
for Youth and Young Adults (YYA)

In addition to their work to reduce homelessness among YYA in Spokane, the YAB seeks to support youth voices to develop community-based solutions to help solve the unique and complex challenges that YYA face day-to-day.
