Open Enrollment 11: Health Coverage for 2024
/Open Enrollment season is upon us!
Washington residents can begin shopping for a 2024 Qualified Health Plan (QHP) and Qualified Dental Plan (QDP) on November 1, 2023.
During Open Enrollment, individuals and families can check their insurance coverage options, compare health plans, and enroll in health insurance coverage for 2024. For coverage to start January 1, 2024, select a plan by December 15, 2023, and make the first month’s payment within 30 days of enrolling. Open Enrollment ends January 15, 2024.
Qualified Health and Dental Plans for Spokane County
Spokane County will have 8 health insurance carriers and 4 dental insurance carriers to choose from during 2024, offering a variety of coverage options. See Washington's health plans by county.
Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) and Qualified Dental Plans (QDPs) are insurance plans certified by the Washington Health Benefits Exchange and available through WAHealthPlanFinder.org. QHPs must:
provide essential health benefits, known as “minimal essential coverage”
follow established limits on cost-sharing (deductibles, copayments, and out-of-pocket maximum amounts)
meet other requirements under the Affordable Care Act

Everyone is Eligible
For 2024, everyone in Washington (regardless of immigration status) can purchase a health insurance plan through WAHealthPlanFinder.org and enroll in Cascade Care plans with cost assistance for monthly premiums. Households earning under 250% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for additional cost assistance for premiums on Cascade Care plans.
Accessing health insurance is safe for immigrants.
These programs WILL NOT COUNT AGAINST PUBLIC CHARGE, and Washington State will not share information with immigration enforcement officials. Federal and state laws generally protect the privacy of people who apply for or receive health care coverage, nutrition, economic support, or other public benefits. Applying and enrolling in health insurance through WAHealthPlanFinder.org does not affect an individual or family's immigration status or citizenship applications. Information provided through Washington Healthplanfinder is shared with other government agencies only for purposes of determining eligibility for health insurance coverage.
Language Support is Available
To speak with bilingual staff or an interpreter for free in your preferred language, call the WAHealthPlanFinder.org Customer Support Center at 1-855-923-4633. Help is available in 175 different languages. You can also ask for free translated materials in your language when you apply for health insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder. You or your household may be eligible for free or low-cost health insurance through WAHealthPlanFinder.org.
Everyone in Washington can enroll in a Cascade Care plan with Cascade Care Savings. If your employer’s lowest-cost health plan exceeds 8.39% of your household’s income, you or your family may also be eligible for federal cost assistance for premiums and copays for health plans purchased through WAHealthplanfinder.org.

Key Dates
November 1, 2023: Open Enrollment Starts – New customers can start shopping and enrolling in Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) for coverage beginning January 1, 2024.
December 15, 2023: Last Day to Enroll for January 1 Start Date – New and existing customers should choose a plan by December 15 for coverage starting January 1, 2024.
January 15, 2024: Open Enrollment Ends – Customers who enroll by January 15 will have a February 1, 2024 start date.
